Why I built BeatNex
My name is Linus Christiansson and I am the founder and creator of BeatNex. Over the years I have worked across almost every layer of electronic music — as a producer, artist, label owner, designer, developer, creative director, marketer and operator behind multiple projects, labels and releases.
Today the independent music industry runs on disconnected tools. For example — the music distribution, the promos and the analytics are all spread out on different platforms. Needless to say, music management these days is extremely time consuming and cumbersome. The enterprise platforms are designed for larger industry structures — those are powerful and expensive systems built around major-label workflows. However, independent labels and artists operate somewhere in the middle. That middle has grown massively over the last decade, yet the infrastructure surrounding it has barely evolved.
This realization hit me hard one night at 2 AM as I was dealing with release schedules, royalty spreadsheets, DJ promo campaigns, artist pages, newsletter systems, metadata corrections and cloud drives full of assets. Yet another late night for me with the tedious work of having to move the same information manually between platforms that were never designed to work together.
My frustration over this constant inefficiency made me think that we need to unify music operations. I could not stop thinking about a solution. I wanted to create a smarter layer between music and business. I wanted to find a way to spend more time in the studio than managing spreadsheets. A better way was needed and BeatNex was the answer.
BeatNex's main goal is to reduce the friction and inconvenience described above so that artists and labels can spend more time on the music, the artistry and the music communities. The people carrying our music culture forward deserve an infrastructure built with the same seriousness and commitment that they bring to their craft.
In short: Less clicking! More creating!
